Key Poker Terms 2 10/30/2010
A while back I went over a number of common poker terms that you should know when you are striving to improve on money poker sites. For the next few months, I would like to go over a few new poker dictionary entries. To make it more organized, I will try to go through all the letters of the alphabet and pick one word for each letter. Hopefully these next few entries help you out. For my very first word, let’s take a look at the term “ante”. This is a very important word for those that play a lot of tournaments with their PartyPoker bonus code. If there is an ante present, all players must pay a predetermined amount before the cards are dealt. The ante is usually around a tenth of the big blind, although it can be more or less depending on the game. You will already know what a “bluff” is if you watch poker on TV. When someone bluffs, they are representing a stronger hand than the one they actually hold in order to make better hands fold. To see some very brave bluffs in action, I encourage you to watch a few high stakes poker hands after you download Full Tilt Poker. Regarding the third letter of the alphabet, here is a something that many of the best online poker sites watch out for in their security departments: chip dumping. Chip dumping means to lose chips to another player purposely. This can occur when two people are colluding in a tournament or cash game, and it can even be a way to launder money for those into illegal activities. This is why US poker sites want their security team looking out for suspicious activity on the tables. When you are getting free poker training, you will probably read about “dirty outs” every so often. A dirty out is a card that will improve your hand while giving someone else an even better hand at the same time. For instance, imagine you are at a cash table on Tiger Gaming and you have a straight draw on a flop with 2 hearts. If you make your straight when a third heart comes out, you have to consider that it may be a dirty out as someone could have made a flush at the same time. That is it for today, but I will be back to continue on in a month. In the meantime, perhaps you should try a Bwin Poker download. Good luck at the tables! CommentsLeave a Reply |
